India were all out for 124 in their second innings where Trent Boult was the top performer with four wickets while Tim Southee took three. Earlier, New Zealand were all out for 235 in reply to India’s 242 with Mohammed Shami claiming four wickets.

08:09 hrs: Surprise! Surprise! Virat Kohli is the new bowler for India!

08:06 hrs: A boundary for Ross Taylor now and the required runs are down to single digits. New Zealand 125 for the loss of three wickets.

08:02 hrs: Jasprit Bumrah has castled Tom Blundell for 55 but it is too little too late. New Zealand need 11 runs more to win.

07:56 hrs: Half century for Tom Blundell and New Zealand can smell the victory right now! NZ 116/2

07:50 hrs: A nasty bouncer from Jasprit Bumrah and Kane Williamson is caught in the slips for 5. New Zealand 112/2

07:40 hrs: Tom Latham dismissed for 52 (74) by Umesh Yadav

· 2nd time Latham has been dismissed by Umesh Yadav in Tests.

· Partnership of 103 runs for 1st wicket between Latham and Blundell.

o This was the 1st century stand between Latham and Blundell in Tests.

· This is now the 4th biggest 4th innings opening stand for New Zealand in Tests.

07:33 hrs: A good catch from Rishabh Pant and Tom Latham departs after a well-played fifty. New Zealand 103 for the loss of one wicket.

07:26 hrs: Tough luck for Umesh Yadav. It turned out to be umpire’s call when it came to the LBW decision but the on-field official decided to give the decision against India. New Zealand 98/0

07:18 hrs: Runs keep flowing for New Zealand. Tom Blundell slammed Ravindra Jadeja for a six and in the next over,Tom Latham scored a boundary straight down the ground. NZ 93/0

07:12 hrs: Ravindra Jadeja is introduced into the attack and Latham welcomed him with a boundary through the point region. Effortless from the left-hander as New Zealand are 82 for no loss.

07:03 hrs: Looks like it is all over for India as New Zealand are 74 for no loss. Another boundary for Tom Blundell and looks like the Kiwis will wrap up the match very soon.

06:56 hrs: Fifty partnership for 1st wicket between Latham and Blundell

· 3rd fifty stand between Latham and Blundell in Tests and their 1st first in 4th innings.

· Fifty plus opening stand in both the innings of this Test by New Zealand.

· Only 20th such instance of NZ openers having 50+ stand in both the innings of a Test and first since 2015 vs SL at Dunedin.

· 4th instance of NZ openers having 50+ stand in both the innings of a Test against India.

o At Delhi in 1955

o At Chennai in 1956

o At Bengaluru in 1988

o At Christchurch in 2020.

· 1st fifty plus opening stand by New Zealand in 4th innings after 5 intervening innings.

06:49 hrs: The Kiwi openers continue to play sensibly as Tom Latham got another boundary to bring up the 50 for New Zealand.

06:43 hrs: Time for the second session on Day 3 and Jasprit Bumrah will start proceedings for India. Can he strike early?

06:08 hrs: It’s lunch on Day 3 of the second Test encounter and New Zealand are 46 for no loss. 86 runs more to win and this is looking too easy for the hosts.

06:01 hrs: This match is going out of India’s hand as the New Zealand openers have added 45 runs already. They need wickets quick or else this will be a cakewalk for the hosts.

05:51 hrs: A punch off the back foot and another four for Tom Blundell. This is too easy for the hosts as they are 40 for no loss.

05:45 hrs: Nothing is going India’s way as the ball struck the outside edge but it was just short of Virat Kohli at second slip. New Zealand 31 for no loss.

05:40 hrs: Looks like Mohammed Shami’s inury is not as bad as most of us thought and he is back into the attack. A boundary for Tom Latham however takes the Kiwis to 31 for no loss.

05:33 hrs: Consistent movement off the pitch for both Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav but still no success as New Zealand are 26 for no loss.

05:25 hrs: Stand and deliver! Glorious drive from Tom Latham and thanks to that boundary, New Zealand are 24 for no loss.

05:18 hrs: A boundary each for Tom Latham and Tom Blundell and New Zealand are off to a positive start. India need wickets soon if they want to make a match of this encounter.

05:09 hrs: Mohammed Shami got hit on his shoulder while batting and he is not there on the field. This is a huge blow for India as they are now one bowler down!

05:03 hrs: The lowest target successfully defended by India in an away Test is 143 vs AUS at Melbourne in 1981.

04:58 hrs: Jasprit Bumrah to bowl the first over for India as they face the tough task of defending 131.

04:48 hrs: A mix-up between the two batsmen and Jasprit Bumrah is run out! India are all out for 124 and the Kiwis need 132 runs to win this encounter.

04:44 hrs: More valuable runs as Jasprit Bumrah guided the ball from Tim Southee to the fine leg boundary for a four. India 118 for the loss of nine wickets.

04:38 hrs: SIX! Ravindra Jadeja is done defending and he slams Trent Boult for a huge six straight down the ground! India 114 for the loss of nine wickets.

04:32 hrs: Mohammed Shami decided to break the shackles but he could only manage to hit the ball straight into the hands of Tom Blundell. Another wicket for Tim Southee and India are 108 for the loss of nine wickets.

04:30 hrs: The pitch is still assisting the fast bowlers and right now, both Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami are looking quite clueless. Can they take India’s lead to 150?

04:17 hrs: Another wicket and this is getting worse for India! Rishabh Pant could not reach the line of the ball from Trent Boult and could only manage to give a simple catch to the wicket-keeper. India 97/8

04:13 hrs: Really unfortunate for Hanuma Vihari. A ball which was going down the leg side took the faintest of edges and BJ Watling completed the catch behind the stumps. India 97/7

04:08 hrs: Cautious start by Rishabh Pant. While his attacking instincts are quite visible, the youngster is trying to play it slow against Tim Southee and Trent Boult. India 93/6

04:00 hrs: Rishabh Pant and Hanuma Vihari are out in the middle and for New Zealand, Tim Southee will be bowling the first over of the day.

03:54 hrs: It has not been a good outing for Virat Kohli as he failed to score big in the Test series. The Indian cricket team skipper managed to score just 38 runs averaging at 9.50. In the first Test against New Zealand, Kohli scored just 21 runs.

03:44 hrs: Hanuma Vihari (5 not out) and Rishabh Pant (1 not out) are the two batsmen out in the middle for India and as the last recognised pair, a lot will depend on their performance today.

03:17 hrs: India were able to dismiss New Zealand for 235 in their second innings thanks to a four-wicket haul from Mohammed Shami and some brilliant efforts in the field. Jasprit Bumrah claimed three wickets while Ravindra Jadeja contributed with two wickets.

03:03 hrs: Cheteshwar Pujara scored 24 while Prithvi Shaw and Virat Kohli were both dismissed for 14 as India batsmen struggled to score in the second innings. A total north of 150 will be competitive on this pitch but India will have keep their wickets intact on Day 3.

02:45 hrs: Hello and welcome to the live coverage of Day 3 of the second Test encounter between India and New Zealand. The visitors will resume their second innings on 90/6 with a lead of 97 runs.
