Last time the countries met at Cape Town, the hosts cruised to a brilliant win to seal the Test series. Can Indian get one back in the ODIs?

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is looking a pale shadow and it might be time that the management starts looking beyond the veteran pacer. India are likely to rest Bumrah as well to manage his workload. Probably Ashwin might also be rested. So what are the bowling options that India have? Jayant Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj. Jayant might be picked in place of Ashwin and two new pacers might be added to the line-up.

"Partnerships, middle order becomes crucial when we are entering a big tournament, wanna get better at bowling in the middle overs and these are the few things which are really obvious and right in front of us. We have spoken about it and it's only up to us to get better, learn from it and find a way."

While the combination of Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi and Aiden Markram have picked eight wickets in two games at a strike rate of 39, the India's Chahal and Ashwin have averaged 111 in picking only two wickets. India's spin average in the series is their seventh-worst in a bilateral contest where they have delivered at least 30 overs.

India's bowling woes in the powerplay continue with the team managing to pick just one wicket in the first 10 overs, conceding 39 and 66 runs respectively. Since 2020, India have averaged 112.78 with the new ball, the only team to have a three-figure average, picking nine wickets at a strike rate of 113.33, which implies almost one wicket every two matches.
