Jemimah attempts a similar shot which almost led to her dismissal in the previous over; this time, though, she fails to connect at all. Again, the ball dodges past the wicketkeeper as well, as the batters run a single.

Following three successive dots in the final over the powerplay, Jemimah swings hard but miscues as the ball falls in the no man's land near deep midwicket.

Shafali remains undeterred with the early wicket as she smashes the final delivery of Maya's over for a brilliant four towards deep midwicket again.

Huge miscue! Mandhana is dismissed on 13. She miscues a full-toss straight towards the fielder at mid-on. Phannita Maya gets the breakthrough.

First boundary for Shafali Verma now. An authoritative shot from the Indian batter, as she gets down on one knee and smashes the ball away towards deep square leg.

Smriti Mandhana smashes the first boundary for India! A brilliant pull towards deep midwicket on a slightly short-pitched delivery.

Another sharp turn away from the right-hander and this time, a thick outside-edge helps her clear the inner circle on the off-side.

Wow! Boochatham gets the ball to turn sharply away from Shafali. The opener had already committed to the lofted shot towards long-on, but misses the ball completely. Thankfully for her, the ball also misses the wicketkeeper and the first slip, as India have the first runs on the board.

"It's a big game. We are happy that the sun came out, because it was raining the past few days. We did work on our batting and bowling. We're very positive.

“I was watching them (Indian team) closely (from the bench). We had some good performances.”

“A dry surface but has a number of patches, some darker. The bowlers can cash in early on if they pitch the ball on the right areas. If Thailand doesn't pick early wickets, India can ply up big totals”

Jemimah will be aiming to extend her lead at the top of the run-getters' list in this edition of the Asia Cup, as India are invited to bat first by Thailand.

Despite playing only four innings in six matches, Jemimah has 188 runs with a brilliant strike rate of 144.62.
