Rishabh Pant was in top form on Monday as he hit cruise mode with the bat to help Delhi Capitals chase down a big total set by Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. Pant’s unbeaten 78 at a strike-rate of above 200 helped DC topple the target of 192 runs.

Speaking with teammate Prithvi Shaw after the match, Pant said that the match was special as he could take the team through.

“We have always been talking about the one match where we need to take the responsibility and finish the job, that moment arrived tonight. The way teammates celebrated our effort and the love I received was amazing. It was a special moment when Sourav Ganguly picked me up,” Pant said.

After the win, he was mobbed by his teammates and Delhi Capitals mentor Sourav Ganguly rushed on to the field and lifted young Pant with absolute delight.

Reflecting on this innings, the wicket-keeper batsman said that to help his side win an important match was a great feeling.

“I focussed on my process and it worked for me. The wicket was playing good, and I just took advantage of that, I guess. Most important thing for our team is that everyone knows our role, and the support staff tells us, ‘this is your role, and this is what is going to happen to you,” he said in the post-match presser.
