Good start for Gaikwad against Hazlewood. Gets right behind this length ball and cuts it between cover-point and third man. A silky smooth shot and Gaikwad is looking good for now. He is on 17 off 15 balls, which is highest score this season. 

That will do a world of good for Gaikwad. Siraj tries to dig it in but this pitch is just not made for something like. The ball sits up nice and Gaikwad pulls away emphatically to send it to the boundary ropes.

Robin Uthappa has been giving CSK quick starts, which is what is probably expected from him but Gaikwad is the one who will be expected to stay in the middle. Gaikwad hitting the form he managed last year is paramount to CSK somehow making it to the playoffs from this point. 

“I must admit I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of this unit. Mainly the results have gone our way which has helped. But outside the field the kind of friendship and the camaraderie that I have developed has been good. There are a few players with whom I have played most of my cricket. I think it is about assessing the situation and understand as well as use your experience. The part which I have enjoyed is the clarity that has been given to me. I think the mood in the camp is good and we are in the right direction.”

Faf du Plessis: We are going to have a bowl. Going with the trend of the tournament, win the toss and bowl. I know them, but they also know me very well. It's like playing against my brothers today. We have been good with the ball, we need to improve with the last two overs. Josh Hazlewood is back, excited to see what he will do with the new ball. We also have an exciting youngster (Suyash Prabhudessai) coming in.

Ravindra Jadeja: We would have bowled first as well, looking at the wicket. We'll look to come here and play competitive cricket. The toss is not going our way, something that's not going out way. As a team every game is important. We'll try to fight it out and clinch our first win hopefully. We are going with the same team.

CSK have gone with the same side that lost to SRH. RCB as was expected, have brought in Josh Hazlewood for David Willey. All-rounder Suyash Prabhudesai is also set to make his IPL debut for RCB. 

RCB win toss, choose to bowl first. Du Plessis says that the primary reason is the dew and so he is just going to "go with the trend". 

Fleming spoke just before the start of the match.  This is what he had to say: "We need improvement in all areas. We've had some moments but they haven't been complete. We don't like to be desperate and getting anxious. But we need to get points soon. It's not derogatory to anyone but we are missing Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne due to injuries and their experience would have been good. We are finding combination to pick wickets and it's no secret that we rely on spin. (Auction strategy) We knew we weren't going to be in Chennai. But it's a group keeping in mind the three years. We're working hard on learning about the players and how they do."

Graeme Swann says that the pitch is "very, very dry and quite dusty."  "It'll support spin and I'd love to bowl on this pitch. Seamers should avoid digging the ball in as it won't work." Both Swann and Sunil Gavaskar feel that 170-180 should be a safe score.

Former England spinner Graeme Swann says that the respect that the former South Africa captain commands made him a perfect candidate to lead the stars of RCB. It seems that this appointment has worked for now, Kohli in particular has looked in good touch and RCB have emerged as one of the teams to beat. 

CSK have had a torrid time in trying to get wickets in the powerplay, clearly feeling the absence of the potent Deepak Chahar. CSK have taken just two wickets this play in the powerplay overs. 

Chasing teams have won six out of the seven matches played at the DY Patil Stadium this season. It looks like win the toss and bowl first is the obvious option.

Harshal Patel has left the IPL bio-bubble to return home after a family bereavement. Harshal exited the bubble after getting to know about the tragedy in the family right after the game against Mumbai Indians.

RCB's campaign started with a spectacular defeat to Punjab Kings where they scored 205/2 but then PBKS chased down that target with an entire over and six wickets in hand. That was only a hiccup though, as they went on to beat KKR by three wickets, RR by four wickets and Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets.

CSK's first match of the season was against Kolkata Knight Riders. They batted first and were restricted to 131/5 and KKR won the match by six wickets. They then faced Lucknow Super Giants, against whom they failed to defend a target of 211. Their third defeat was to the Punjab Kings, who scored 180/8 and CSK went on to crash to a 54-run defeat. Their previous match was against Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were winless before that game. CSK lost that match by eight wickets. 

CSK tweeted a video in which Kohli can be seen having a word with Jadeja at the nets. Du Plessis also meets up with his old team mates and Fleming. 

Apart from being set to become the second to reach 1000 runs against a team, Kohli is also set to become the second to reach 10 half centuries against a single team if he can score a fifty today.
