Lucknow Super Giants win toss, opt to field first. 

"What we saw in the first match here was a bit of extra bounce troubling the batters. That's something the bowlers will look into. Wickets came off short-pitched bowling. This pitch has had a bit of water put on it since the other day. It's definitely greener. Reckon it's not quite as hard. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a good batting wicket, but the seamers but just get a little bit if they pitch it up, might just nibble off a length"

MS Dhoni will be eyeing a special milestone, when he steps out to bat againstv Lucknow Super Giants in the clash tonight. The wicketkeeper-batter is just 15 runs short from reaching the 7000-run mark in T20 cricket and so far only four Indian batters have gone past the milestone in this format.

Chennai Super Kings failed to fire with the bat in their opener against Kolkata. Star opener Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed on 0, Devn Conway scored 3. The middle-order also failed to do much as Ambati Rayudu, one of the star campaigner, could only manage 15 from 17 balls. 

Skipper Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 26 off 28 balls, but he was not in the best of form, which we have witnessed recently. Shivam Dube scored 3 in 6 balls and he will be under a lot of pressure to prove his worth on the IPL stage.

Lucknow's bowling was below par in their first match against Gujarat Titans. Avesh Khan was hammered for 33 runs in his 3.4 overs. Ravi Bishnoi, who was roped in by the franchise, ahead of the mega auctions also failed to make an impact, conceding 34 runs without a wicket in his four overs. 

Pacer Dushmantha Chameera had a decent outing as he picked two wickets in the three overs he bowled.

Lucknow Super Giants openers KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock had a poor outing against Gujarat Titans. KL was dismissed by Mohammed Shami on 0, while De Kock was dismissed on 7 (9). 

Rahul's captaincy was also criticised by the fans, so can the duo get things back together in the clash tonight? 

Chennai Super Kings shared a video of players, bowling at soaring pace at the nets.

Chennai Super Kings have been one of the most formidable team in the history of IPL. They have lifted the trophy four times and have entered the season as the defending champions. So, while everyone is wondering if CSK can retain the title, Matthew Hayden has an answer for the fans. 

"CSK will not be disheartened with the loss in their opening game against KKR. There were plenty of positives for the Ravindra Jadeja-led side. Their top-order saw a rare batting collapse in the first game but there is a lot of experience in the side and I am sure they will come back stronger in the next game."

"They missed Moeen Ali in the tournament opener and he will be available for selection in the next match. CSK have it in them to it pull off and that makes them a dangerous side," Hayden said during an episode of 'Cricket Live' on Star Sports.

The last match played at this venue saw Mumbai Indians fail to defend 177 on this track against Rishabh Pant's Delhi Capitals. Dew too could play an important factor, so it won't come as a surprise if the team, which win the toss, opt to field first.  

Dwayne Bravo produced a clinical effort in the previous outing as he picked three wickets and conceded just 20 runs in his four overs. The Windies all-rounder has maintained a superb economy of under 8 in the previous two years.

MSD, who scored an unbeaten 50 in the previous match, has scored 410 runs at a strike rate 103.79 against the spinners since 2018. In the same time period his strike rate has been better against the pacers. He has accumulated 825 runs against them at a strike rate of over 150. 

Lucknow Super Giants will miss out on the services of Marcus Stoinis, Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers. CSK, too, will fret over the absence of Deepak Chahar, who will be missing a majority of the league due to an injury. 

CSK all-rounder Moeen Ali, who missed the opening encounter after a delay in his travel documents, is likely to be a part of the CSK setup in the clash tonight. Moeen scored 357 runs in the 15 matches he played in the previous season. With the ball, he scalped six wickets. 

Both the teams didn't have a great start to the campaign, however, there were a few positives. 

From the CSK camp it was MS Dhoni, who after being relived from captaincy duties, showed glimpses of his yesteryears. The wicketkeeper-batter scored an unbeaten 50 off 38 balls, which featured seven fours and one maximum. 

LSG, on the other hand, were rocked by Mohammed Shami in their previous outing, however, Deepak Hooda and 22-year-old Ayush Badoni showed the depth in LSG's batting. Apart from the duo, Krunal Pandya also played a decent 13-ball 21 in their previous clash.
