IPL on a strip
Collect these quirky comics based on cricket teams Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers, created page by page as the games progress, to be compiled into limited edition book.
Here’s a comic strip that you can watch being made, page by page. What’s more, it’s based on events that you may have witnessed live, a little over a day ago — IPL games contested by the Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals teams.
The two comics, titled Rock ‘n’ Royals and Electric Chargers respectively, each have a page created and uploaded within 36 hours, based on the results and highlights of the previous game contested by the team. Each page can be viewed online and at the end of the IPL season, the series will be compiled into a complete comic strip.
“Each player has been given unique superpowers in the comic strip,” says Rajiv Mehta, MD, Puma, South Asia, the brand behind the initiative. “We had launched a ‘Spiked Red Boot’ for this cricketing season and have integrated that too. The strips have been created at our advertising agency, Brewhouse.”
Touted as a match report with a twist, the series of pages will eventually be put together as limited edition signed hard copies, available at key stores.
“Moreover, fans who collect each comic strip and create their own comic book online will also receive signed hard copies of the book by way of gratitude,” says Mehta. The individual strips can be viewed on Puma’s social media channels, www.pum ashop.in/cricket and www. cricinfo.com. The entire strip, in the form of a hard copy, will be made available as soon as the tournament ends, around end-May or the first week of June.
