Former Pakistan skipper Javed Miandad has launched a scathing attack on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over India's Asia Cup stance. Miandad wants the International Cricket Council (ICC) to take strict action against the BCCI.

Former Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad has launched a scathing attack on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over their stance against touring Pakistan for the 2023 edition of the Asia Cup. Even though Pakistan have the hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2023, the former champions are unlikely to host the showpiece event. BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), had earlier stated that India will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup in 2023.

Former Pakistan skipper Miandad has reacted sharply after the impending verdict on the venue for the Asia Cup was postponed to March. Former Pakistani cricketer Miandad demanded the International Cricket Council (ICC) take strict action against the apex cricket board of India. Miandad issued a hard-hitting statement while speaking to the media at an event in Pakistan.

“India can go to hell if they don’t want to come to Pakistan to play cricket (Maine toh pehle bhi kaha tha agar nahi aana to bhaad mein jaaye. Humein koi farak nahi padta),” Miandad reckoned at a public event. “I’ve always backed Pakistan. And you know that I don’t leave spare India whenever an issue arises. But the thing is we need to look at our part. And we should fight for it. We don’t care because we are getting to host our cricket. This is ICC’s job. If ICC can’t control this there’s no use of the governing body. They need to implement similar rules for every team. If teams like these don’t come, they should be debarred. (India hoga, apne liye hoga. Hamare liye nahi hai)," he added.

As per the latest developments, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants the 2023 World Cup matches to be taken out of India. An official present at the Asian Cricket Council board meeting said that the Babar Azam-led Pakistani side would not travel to India for the ODI World Cup if the Indian cricket team refuses to tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup in September. Arch-rivals India and Pakistan have not played against each other in a bilateral series since 2012-2013. India and Pakistan only lock horns in ICC and ACC events due to the frosty political relations between the two Asian nations.
