Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) produced a disciplined bowling performance to beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 25 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 Eliminator at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday. Chasing 170, Sanju Samson (50) and Ajinkya Rahane (46) looked in control but Piyush Chawla (2/24) and Kuldeep Yadav (1/18) were the top bowling performers for KKR as they clinched the game for the hosts. Earlier, skipper Dinesh Karthik (52 off 38) and all-rounder Andre Russell (49 off 25 balls) played brilliantly as KKR posted a competitive total of 169/7 in 20 overs. Krishnappa Gowtham, Ben Laughlin and Jofra Archer took two wickets each to give RR the early momentum, but KKR fought back brilliantly. KKR will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 on Friday. 20:48 hrs IST: Karthik held the innings together with Shubman Gill, the duo adding 55 for the fifth wicket when all looked lost. The KKR skipper made 52 off 38 balls with four fours and two sixes and Gill made a 17-ball 28 that was worth much more given the circumstances in which it came. Then Russell provided turbo power in the end overs, his 49 coming in 25 balls with three fours and five sixes; the one slapped back off Jofra Archer in the 19th over encapsulating the kind of power those big hands can generate.

19:17 hrs IST: KKR are truly on the backfoot now. Gowtham took his second wicket and this is turning out to be the perfect start for the visitors. Lynn continued the play his natural game and got a boundary, but the hosts are still struggling on 22/2 after 3 overs.
19:14 hrs IST: OUT! Krishnappa Gowtham strikes again! Uthappa top edged the straighter one from the spinner and it was an easy caught and bowled attempt for the youngster. KKR 17/2
19:11 hrs IST: Sensible batting by Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa as they kept the scorecard ticking. Joffra Archer struggled with his line, but there were no boundaries in the over. KKR 17/1
19:06 hrs IST: An eventful over to start the proceedings. A boundary came off the last ball when Uthappa attempted a reverse sweep but Gowtham will be happy with how he bowled there. KKR 10/1
19:01 hrs IST: A four and a wicket! Exciting start to the match. Narine slogged the first ball for a boundary but he was unable to connect with the second one and Klassen completed the easy stumping to provide the breakthrough for RR. KKR 4/1

18:55 hrs IST: There are chances of rain in Kolkata today and in case of a complete washout, KKR will advance to the Qualifier 2 thanks to their better position in the group stages.
