Sri Lanka opted to bat on Day 1 of the first of the two Tests against Pakistan. The visitors eventually scored 227 runs at the loss of four wickets as opener Dimuth Karunaratne top-scored with a brilliant 93 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. Captain Dinesh Chandimal remained unbeaten on 60 as Pakistani bowler Yasir Shah took 2/59. The second Test will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium from October before the One-Day Internationals (ODI) begin. Pakistan are playing a Test without batting stalwarts Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan for the first time in seven years.
