'Make Rohit Sharma run 20 kms everyday': Yograj Singh vows to make Team India 'unbeatable for ages' if made head coach
Yograj Singh's comment came during a recent podcast with former Indian cricketer Taruwar Kohli on his podcast, 'Find a Way.'
Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh was asked what he would do if he were made the head coach of the Indian team, and he stressed the need to protect and support the two senior players of the side, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Yograj's comment came during a recent podcast with former Indian cricketer Taruwar Kohli on his podcast, 'Find a Way.'

The Indian team recently came under scrutiny after their poor run of form in red-ball cricket, where they suffered an unprecedented 0-3 whitewash at home against New Zealand last November, before losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. Although they did extend their supremacy in white-ball cricket with a second consecutive ICC title win after the Rohit-led side lifted the Champions Trophy, their form in Test cricket remains under the scanner, especially with their next big assignment being the tour of England, where they haven't won a series since 2007.
Yograj vowed that if he were given the opportunity to serve as the head coach of the national team, he would transform it into an unbeatable team using the same players. He also stressed the need to protect Kohli and Rohit, saying that he would make sure they played in the Ranjis and that he would back them to the hilt.
"If you make me the coach of the Indian team, I will use these same players to transform it into a side that will be unbeatable for ages. Who will bring out their capabilities? Because people are always ready to throw them out of the team—drop Rohit Sharma or drop Kohli—but why? They are going through a rough patch and I want to tell my kids that I am with you. I'll tell them let's play Ranji Trophy, or I will make Rohit run 20 km. Nobody does that. These players are diamonds. You don't throw them out. I will be like their father. I have never differentiated between Yuvraj and the others, not even Dhoni. But what is wrong is wrong," he said.
Kohli, Rohit to play for India A?
According to a report in the PTI on Tuesday, some of the frontline players of the Indian Test team could be named in the India A squad for the two four-day tour games against the Lions, which will be played
in preparation for the five-match Test series against England. The tour games will begin on May 30, just a few days after the IPL 2025 final and the team will be decided based on which players are available prior to the start of the playoffs. All the frontline players are currently contracted with their respective IPL franchises.
