HT had earlier reported how increasing costs have forced the BCCI to trim its staff and think of a budget revision this year.

Terminated
Those whose contracts were ‘terminated’ include its manager Col. AK Jha, logistics manager, drivers, a storekeeper and housekeeping staff.

They will be paid three months’ salary as compensation. The three accountants have been retained.

The decision was taken at an NCA committee meeting in Chennai last week. The committee also decided to prune the coaching staff from 12 to six.

Three coaches Bharath Arun (bowling), Dinesh Nanavati (batting) and MV Sridhar (fielding), two physios Ashish Kaushik and Nitin Patel and a trainer have been retained.

The remaining six have been asked to continue till July 31, when their contracts expire.

NCA chairman Ranjib Biswal confirmed the move. “We have terminated our administrative staff as decided. The NCA was overstaffed and this was the only way we could go ahead and reduce the expenditure. We will retain most of our NCA trainers, coaches and physios,” he said.

The NCA will now focus on skill development and rehabilitation of injured players.
