Alex Green is a right-arm pace bowler from Peterborough who has emerged through the England age-group system and into professional cricket with Leicestershire. A product of Stamford School, Green first made his mark with the Young Lions in 2023 before progressing into county cricket. Standing at 6ft 6in, he has the physical attributes to generate bounce and carry, while his right-handed batting gives him some lower-order value.
Green made his List A debut for Leicestershire against Yorkshire in August 2024, taking two wickets on his first appearance at senior level. He followed that by making his first-class debut against Derbyshire later that September, having signed a three-year professional contract with the county. His early progress also earned recognition at international level, with a call-up to England Under-19s for the ODI tri-series against Scotland and Ireland in 2024.
His England Under-19 career has included some notable performances with the ball. Green claimed his maiden five-wicket haul for the side against Scotland in the 2024 tri-series, underlining his ability to make an impact with the new ball and in longer spells. He was a prominent member of the England U19 squad, picking up 7 wickets in 5 games, that finished as runners-up at the 2026 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup held in Zimbabwe and Namibia, gaining valuable experience against some of the strongest young sides in international cricket.
For Leicestershire, Green's development has continued across formats as he works towards establishing himself as a regular senior bowler. He made his T20 debut in the 2026 Vitality Blast, picking up eight wickets in seven games, but it was in the One Day Cup where he made an even greater impact. Green claimed 18 wickets in nine matches to play a key role in Leicestershire's run to the final, with his height, pace and ability to extract bounce providing a constant threat.
