Sachindu Colombage

Sachindu Colombage was born on February 21, 1998, in Kalutara, Sri Lanka. Educated at Kalutara Vidyalaya, he developed his craft as a right-arm leg-spin bowler and useful right-handed lower-order batter. Known for his distinctive, jerky bowling action, sharp drift, flight, and disguised variations, he steadily emerged as a decent spin-bowling prospect in Sri Lankan cricket.

He made his professional debut in T20 cricket for Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC) in 2019, announcing himself with a spell of 3/8 against Saracens Sports Club. He subsequently made his List A debut for Kalutara Town Club in 2018 and established himself as a frontline wrist-spinner for NCC across domestic formats, while also gaining experience in UK club cricket representing Downham Stow CC and Wellington CC in the West of England Premier Cricket League.

Colombage built a notable franchise footprint across domestic and overseas T20 leagues. He entered the Lanka Premier League (LPL) when he was drafted by Dambulla Viiking in 2020. Over subsequent seasons, he featured across teams such as Dambulla Giant, Galle Gladiators, and Galle Titans. His standout LPL campaign came in the 2026 Lanka Premier League for Galle Giants, where he claimed 10 wickets at an impressive average. Globally, he also featured for Northern Warriors in the Abu Dhabi T10 League and Chicago Tigers in the US-based Minor League Cricket (MiLC).

His consistent wrist-spin exploits earned him his maiden national call-up for Sri Lanka's white-ball tour of England in September 2026. Colombage made a memorable international debut in the 1st ODI against England at Chester-le-Street on September 22, 2026, delivering a spellbinding performance of 3/44 in his 10 overs. During his debut spell, he dismissed top-tier batters like Joe Root and Jos Buttler immediately announcing his arrival on the world stage.
