Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul played an impressive knock on Monday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mumbai, scoring 68 runs off 50 deliveries as the team finished with 169 for seven after being put to bat first. And en route to his knock, Rahul surpassed India great Virender Sehwag to join MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli in an elusive list in IPL history.
Rahul, who laced 6 boundaries and a solitary six to revive the Super Giants from an early low in the innings to finish with a competitive total, scored his 28th half-century in the tournament. It was also his 13th fifty-plus score as a captain. The tally took him past former Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist and ex-captain of Delhi Daredevils to take the sixth spot in the list of most fifty-plus scores as a captain in IPL and fifth overall among Indians.
Former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli stands atop in the list with 40 such scores, followed by Gautam Gambhir (31), Rohit Sharma (23) and MS Dhoni (22). The only overseas captain to feature in the all-time top-5 is David Warner with 27 such scores.

It was also his 50th half-century in T20 cricket and with that milestone, he joined Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina and Rohit in a elusive list of Indian players.
Rahul has been one of the most prolific run getters in IPL since becoming the captain in 2020 for Punjab Kings. He has scored 1404 runs as a skipper in 30 matches in the tournament at 56.16 with 12 fifties and one century. No other captain has managed to amass even 1000 runs in the tournament during the period.
Talking about the game, Rahul was ably assisted by Deepak Hooda who scored 51 runs in the game and stitched a century stand to help Lucknow set a 17-run target.
