Watch: CSK fans sent into frenzy after Suresh Raina dons Chennai jersey on return to cricket: 'Talk about loyalty'

Suresh Raina was seen wearing a Chennai Super Kings jersey as he returned to practice on Wednesday.

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina had been a regular feature at Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings until last year. Fondly known as ‘Mr IPL’ due to his exploits in the tournament, Raina was released by the franchise to massive shock for its supporters after last season, and wasn't bought back in the mega auction ahead of this year's tournament. Barring the two seasons where CSK were banned (2016 and 2017), Raina had featured in each of the franchise's seasons since its inception in 2008.

And so, when the left-handed batter returned to the cricket field on Wednesday, the CSK fans didn't fail to notice that Raina had donned a Super Kings jersey. Justifiably, there was an outpour of emotions among the fans as they saw one of their star players returning to field in the yellow.

“Guy had so many reasons to delete stuff but still donning the CSK kit instead. Talk about loyalty,” a fan wrote on his Twitter profile as he shared the video of Raina going out to bat in a CSK jersey.

Suresh Raina also shared a video of him playing the game as he returned to the field. “Nothing beats the feeling of when I'm on the field. Had the best time on the ground!!” he wrote.

Raina had announced his international retirement in August 15, 2020, merely an hour after MS Dhoni had called time on his India career. The 35-year-old had registered himself in the mega auction at INR 1 crore, but found no takers among the ten participating franchises. He eventually had a commentary stint throughout the IPL season.

However, his return to cricket has triggered speculations over his potential return to domestic cricket, as he might as well be preparing for a roaring return to the IPL.
