Divye Pratap Singh shoots gold in Thailand Championship

Son of BJP MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion, Divye would also be taking part in the national championships due in November

Shooter Divye Pratap Singh has brought laurels to the state by winning a gold medal in the 10th Thailand Open Shooting Championship, held in Bangkok recently.

Divye, 20, took part in the senior men’s shotgun double trap category.

Son of Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion, the BJP MLA from Khanpur, Divye is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from Amity University, Noida.

Talking to HT, Divye said that he had been keenly pursuing the sport of shooting since 2012 and had won a bronze medal in an international shooting championship in Finland in 2013. He said he was enthused at the achievement and it would motivate him to participate in more such championships in the future.

Revealing his plans for the future, Divye informed that he would be taking part in the national championships that were due in November. He would then be going for a week-long training camp in Italy. After that he would be training for a shooting championship in Dubai. Divye, who would be turning 21 in December, said that he would be striving to bring more laurels for Uttarakhand in the future through proper training regimen.
