A 45-year-old music teacher of National Institute of Visually Handicapped (NIVH) here was arrested on Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting at least two students of the institute, police said.

The arrest came following an investigation done by police in the state capital’s Rajpur area on two complaints lodged against the teacher. Ramesh Kashyap was arrested from his house on NIVH campus in Rajpur Road here.

The first incident came to light when a 13-year-old boy’s father lodged a complaint with the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) on May 5.

Another case was registered by a member of NGO ‘Bachpan Bachao Andolan’ in the Rajpur police station after which police registered a case under sections of POCSO Act.

During the investigation, police gathered evidences against Kashyap and presented the two victims before a court, where they recorded their statements, a police officer said. Medical examinations of the victims were also done, he said.
