30-yr-old shot in Delhi for taking on robbers

A 30-year-old man was shot at by three men in west Delhi’s Khyala when he tried to stop them from stealing a two-wheeler early Wednesday. Police have arrested the three men.

According to the police, Narendra, a resident of Raghubir Nagar in Khyala, was returning home with a friend around 1.30 am on Wednesday when he spotted three men trying break open the lock of a motorcycle.

“He told police that before he could intervene, one of the three men took out a pistol and shot at him. The bullet hit him in his leg. As Narendra and his friend raised alarm, the trio fled the spot,” said a police officer.

Deputy commissioner of police (west) Monika Bhardwaj said that based on the victim’s statement and preliminary probe, police have arrested the three men, Vikas, Vinod and Somnath, all residents of Raghubir Nagar. “A case of attempt to murder has been registered. Vinod is involved in at least 10 cases of thefts. The others also have theft cases against them,” the DCP said.
