A 25-year-old suspected hitman with Anil Dujana’s gang has been arrested for his alleged involvement in more than half a dozen cases of murder and attempts to murder registered in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, the police said on Sunday.
Vikas Kasana, a resident of Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase-3, is the second hitman of the gang to be arrested by the Delhi Police in the last one week. On Friday, the police in its press statement said they had arrested 32-year-old Arvind Kumar on April 29 from Vellore in Tamil Nadu.
The police said Kasana was caught on Saturday from near the DDA Park in east Delhi’s Kondli where he came to meet his associate. A semi-automatic pistol with four cartridges and a motorcycle that was used in the attack on Nagar were recovered from him. Kasana also carried a ₹50,000 reward on his arrest.
Deputy commissioner of police (crime branch) G Ram Gopal Naik said both Kasana and Kumar were involved in an attack on rival gang member Sandeep Nagar, who was a witness in a case of murder, on July 30 last year. Nagar received bullet injuries to his abdomen. The motive was allegedly to deter Nagar from deposing against members of their gang in a murder case, Naik said. “A total of 10 persons were arrested in the past while Kumar and Kasana were on the run. With the arrest of the two, we have now arrested all the people involved in the crime,” he added.
