Delhi Police on Friday arrested a Sanskrit teacher employed with a government school in north Delhi for allegedly sexually assaulting one of his class 10 students during summer vacations in June this year.
Police said the crime took place when the student had visited the teacher’s house for extra classes.
Senior police officers said the crime came to light after a PCR call was received on Friday reporting that a man was fighting with a teacher in the school.
When a police team arrived at the spot, it was revealed that a man who runs an NGO in the neighbourhood was arguing with the Sanskrit teacher.
“During questioning, the man showed police a video in which the teacher was forcing the student to have oral sex with him. The teacher was arrested under POCSO Act and a statement of the victim was then recorded. The statement revealed that in June, during summer vacations, he and another boy from the school had gone to the accused’s house for extra classes,” said a senior police officer not authorised to speak to the media.
Police said that the teacher had then sent another student out while he molested the other one. “The video of the sexual assault was apparently shot by the other student. But this is yet to be ascertained,” the officer said.
Nupur Prasad, deputy commissioner of police (north) said the teacher has been arrested and the role of the NGO is being looked into.
