Water supply to be hit in South and central Delhi on Thursday and Friday

The Delhi Jal Board has advised residents to store sufficient water as the pressure would be low between Thursday noon and 6am Friday.

Water supply to large parts of south and central Delhi , including New Delhi Municipal Council areas, would be hit for at least 18 hours on Thursday and Friday, as the Delhi Jal Board will be taking up some maintenance work.

The board has advised residents to store sufficient water as the pressure would be low between Thursday noon and 6am Friday.

“There will be an 18-hour shutdown of the South Delhi main line, that emerges from Sonia Vihar water treatment plant,” a statement by DJB on Wednesday said.

The areas where water supply is likely to be affected are Kailash Nagar, Sarai Kale Khan, Jal Vihar, Lajpat Nagar, Moolchand, Greater Kailash, Vasant Kunj, Devli, Ambedkar Nagar, Okhla, Dakshinpuri, Panchsheel Marg, Shahpur Jat, Kotla Mubarakpur, Defence Colony, Sarita Vihar, Apollo, Siddharth Enclave, Greater Kailash (North), Malviya Nagar, Deer Park, Geetanjali, Sriniwaspuri, Greater Kailash, Chhattarpur, and areas under the New Delhi Municipal Council.

Jal Board officials said water tankers would be available at the following numbers — Greater Kailash (29234746), Giri Nagar (26473720), Jal Sadan (29819035 / 29814106), Vasant Kunj (26137216), Sarita Vihar (29941824 / 29941825) and Central Control Room (1916 / 23538495).

The DJB said they are interconnecting the newly laid 1,200mm water pipeline by diverting the existing line at Hazrat Nizamuddin Metro Station.
