NEW DELHI: An interstate supplier of arms and ammunition, who allegedly supplied weapons to Maoists in Jharkhand and gangsters of Bihar, has been arrested from near Dwarka Sector-18, Delhi police said on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Raj Kumar Yadav (27) alias Raju, had come near a cremation ground in Dwarka on September 18 to supply weapons to a client. Police nabbed him from the spot. Yadav was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh for his arrest. One pistol along with 3 cartridges has been recovered from his possession.
“During interrogation, Yadav said that he came in contact with gangsters of Najafgarh while working for a man named Harcharan Singh Sardar. Sardar apparently lured Yadav to earn huge money by supplying weapons in Delhi from Bihar,” said Ravindra Yadav, joint commissioner of police (crime).
Yadav further said that he had supplied hand grenades to Vikash Dagar, alias Vicky, to kill his rival Krishan Pahalwan. Police said Yadav smuggled the arms from Bihar and supplied them to criminal gangs of Najafgarh. He said that he had contacts with Left Wing Extremists (LWE) in Jharkhand and claims to be their source of supply also.
Yadav, police said, was born in Bindapur, Delhi. His father was a rickshaw puller. Yadav studied till class 7 in a school in Janakpuri. Later, he dropped out and began to work as a motor mechanic in Dwarka. He was arrested for the first time in 2009 in an Arms Act case registered at Uttam Nagar police station.
Yadav, along with his family, had shifted to their native place after being released on bail.
