BULANDSHAHR/GHAZIABAD: The victim’s family in the Bulandshahr robbery and gang rape has reposed faith in the suspended team of three officers, including former senior superintendent of police (SSP) Vaibhav Krishna, and said the same team be allowed to investigate the case.

“The former SSP was the one who immediately showed us several photographs of suspects as per our description. There, we identified the prime suspect from a photograph. The SSP had assured us immediate action. We want him back. We are considering transfer of the case to Ghaziabad once the suspects are arrested,” said the uncle of the 13-year-old victim girl.
“Now, we have another problem. We may have to change the residence after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders visited our house on Tuesday. They should have called the family at some undisclosed location. We will soon shift elsewhere,” he said.
The girl’s uncle, who was himself held captive during the incident, said that they got clues about the suspects as they were calling each other by names.
“They called each other as Raees, Abbas, Aslam, Mukhtiar, Amit etc. They had two to three small torches which helped us see their faces. Raees, Bablu and Naresh were identified by the girl and her mother. The prime suspect was clean shaven, short and had a wheatish complexion. If these men are not arrested, we will demand a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry,” he said.
“We have not been provided medical reports as yet. We have not been approached by police for 164CrPC statements. The minor girl is in trauma and does not want to go to Bulandshahr as the place will remind her of the incident,” he said.
However, the office of UP CM tweeted on Tuesday, “On #UPCM@yadav akhilesh instruction, Sh.Sujith Pandey, IG meerut will head the #Bulandshahr case (sic).”
Another tweet from the handle said, “@yadav akhilesh also directed PS Home/DGP to ensure speedy investigation and ensure justice is delivered at the earliest.”
On their part, the Bulandshahr police could not make more arrests on Tuesday. The police on Monday arrested Raees, Jabar Singh and Shavez.
“The three arrested suspects have no previous crime record. We are getting their criminal history from other police stations compiled,” said Rameshwar Kumar, station house officer, Kotwali Dehat.
Senior superintendent of police Anees Ahmad Ansari said that teams were on the lookout for other suspects.
Meanwhile, BJP workers and locals protested and burnt effigies at Kala Aam Chowk in Bulandshahr on Tuesday and raised slogans against the rising crimes in the state.
“Our leaders went there without any supporters and just to assure the family that they are not alone. We abided by all legal procedures to ensure that their identities are not disclosed. There was no public meeting held and a personal meeting was made with the family,” said Chandra Mohan, UP BJP spokesperson.
