NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Sangam Vihar Dinesh Mohaniya, who was arrested on charges of molestation and criminal intimidation and is out on bail, said he had proof of his innocence.

“I have video evidence of my innocence and thiswill expose the political conspiracy against me and the Aam Aadmi Party. I have full faith in judiciary and it was because of the judiciary that I am a free man despite a deep rooted political conspiracy against me,” he said.

Mohaniya was arrested on Saturday morning while he was addressing a press conference. The police said claimed he had ignored repeated summons after a woman filed a complaint, accusing him of molestation.

Mohaniya said the central government under Narendra Modi had failed to deliver what the BJP had promised during elections while the AAP government had set a benchmark in good governance.

“This has unsettled PM Modi and his team. They are trying every dirty trick to stall the good workof theDelhigovernmentand deflect media attention from his failure. This was the reason the BJP hatched a conspiracy to implicate me in a false case. I have video evidence of my innocence which I will produce in the court. This evidence will expose the political conspiracy against me,” he said.

AAP Delhi state convenor Dilip Pandey said the pace with which AAP is fulfilling its electoral promises has unsettled the BJP.

“A frustrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi is resorting to dirty tricks to stall the good work in Delhi. He has not forgotten the humiliation meted out to him in the Delhi elections. He is trying to avenge his defeat,” he said.
