SDMC seals 25 properties, takes over 55 for violations

NEW DELHI: At least 25 proper ties were sealed and 55 properties taken over by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) last month.

NEW DELHI: At least 25 proper ties were sealed and 55 properties taken over by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) last month.

SDMC officers said the demolition and sealing took place in Greater Kailash, Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Jangpura and other south Delhi areas stretching up to the Badarpur border. Officers said the properties were sealed or demolished because of unauthorised construction and misuse of cell towers.

“Last three days, the building department took major demolition and sealing action in different areas. 19 properties were demolished and 14 were sealed. Moreover, department has re-sealed about 18 properties where the owner or occupier has tampered with the seal,” said an officer.

Also 268 owners and builders were fined for violation of the National Green Tribunal‘s order. They were fined Rs 5,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 50,000.

The official said that an FIR was registered against all those who had carried the unauthorised construction. He warned of stern action against unauthorised construction in the days ahead.
