NEW DELHI: Cong ress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said on Thursday he stood by his remarks that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the ruling BJP’s ideological mentor, was responsible for Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination.

“I will never stop fighting the hateful & divisive agenda of the RSS. I stand by every single word I said,” he tweeted and shared a video in which he blames “RSS men” for the assassination of the Mahatma.

He made his stand clear as media reports suggested he allegedly retracted his remarks when he told the Supreme Court on Wednesday he didn’t blame the RSS as an institution, but some people associated with the Hindu group. An RSS man has filed a defamation case against him for his remarks.

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh tweeted: “No U-Turn by Rahul Gandhi on RSS. He stands by what he said.”
