A cylinder blast caused the fire. Police said the incident took place around 11.30am and the fire was doused within an hour.
A gas cylinder developed a leak, causing the blast when one of the families of the cluster tried to cook food, said a senior police officer. Then the pressure cooker kept near the cylinder too exploded.
The impact of the blast was such that the house collapsed. Apart from the family members, a few neighbours were also injured. All of them were rushed to Safdarjung Hospital.
In another incident, a minor fire broke out at the National School of Drama in central Delhi’s Mandi house area around 11 am on Sunday.
The fire broke out probably due to a short circuit in the wiring which spread due to the presence of wood that was being used to erect a tent for an upcoming event. Three fire tenders took 15 minutes to douse the flames.
