12-year-old boy dies in freak accident

A heavy iron block broke off from a speeding Rajdhani Express and hit a 12-year-old boy waiting at a railway platform in Faridabad, killing him on the spot.

A heavy iron block broke off from a speeding Rajdhani Express and hit a 12-year-old boy waiting at a railway platform in Faridabad, killing him on the spot.

The boy was with his grandmother at the Palwal station when the freak accident happened. “The iron block broke and fell on the boy's head, killing him instantaneously. The block weighed around 3 kg,” said DD Singhal, station superintendent.

The boy’s father died a few years ago and his mother is mentally ill. His grandmother has demanded action against the railway staff.
