Apart from the state health department teams, a Rotary International team from the United Kingdom and France also visited high-risk areas in and around Delhi, administered polio drops and held wellness camps with 30,000 health workers on job.

The state has not reported a polio case in the last two years. The Pulse Polio Programme was initiated in Delhi 18 years ago, and the last four cases of the disease were reported in 2009.

In fact, last year's only case of polio in India was reported from West Bengal in January, which makes it more than a year since a case of polio was reported from the country.

World Health Organisation certifies a country polio free after no cases of the disease are reported for at least three consecutive years.
