In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and mother in southeast Delhi, police said.

The accused suspected his wife of having an extramarital affair, police said, adding that he killed his mother fearing that she would tell the police about the incident.

The incident was reported from Jaitpur area on Wednesday night.

The accused has been identified as Mohammed Illyas, who was working in Dubai for the past two years. Illyas had returned home recently.

“He suspected his wife of having an affair with one of his relatives,” said a senior police officer on condition of anonymity, as he was not authorised to speak to the media.

Illyas then allegedly conspired with one of his friends to kill her, the officer added. He, along with a friend, allegedly slit her throat at his residence at 11:30 pm. “During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. His friend is absconding,” said the officer.
