35 persons arrested from Mayapuri for gambling

Delhi Police today busted a west Delhi gang of notorious gamblers and arrested 35 persons, including kingpins Anoop Singh alias Bittoo and Ratan Lal alias Monu. The police recovered Rs 6,35,830 from the possession of the accused.

Delhi Police on Friday busted a west Delhi gang of notorious gamblers and arrested 35 persons, including kingpins Anoop Singh alias Bittoo and Ratan Lal alias Monu. The police recovered Rs 6,35,830 from the possession of the accused.

Police said the gamblers operated from a rented house at Junk Market, Phase-II in Mayapuri.

After verifying all requisite inputs gathered from sources, a team of special staff of West district police raided the house and found 35 persons gambling with playing cards. On seeing the police officers, the gamblers tried to flee the spot.

“But our men overpowered them and recovered the sum from their possession. During interrogation, they disclosed their names and addresses. The kingpin Anoop Kumar disclosed that he had taken the premises on rent in partnership with Ratan Lal alias Monu,” said V Renganathan, additional commissioner of police, west District. During interrogation, Anoop said that he has been indulging in gambling since many years and had earlier been arrested.
