The injured were rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital where half of them were discharged after first-aid.

“We noticed a spark in the high tension wire. Soon it fell down, leading to stampede,” said Sharda, a local resident.

“All the injured were rushed to the hospital and no one is critical. We have taken the statement of eyewitnesses,” said Sanjay Jain, DCP (northeast).

The relatives of the injured protested at the hospital. “We have been complaining about the safety of residents as high tension wires are very dangerous. It goes right in front of the houses and there have been occasions when we notice sparking in these wires,” said Fakhrul, another resident.
