The increased fares announced by Delhi Transport Corporation will not become effective on November 1.

Senior Delhi government officials said they were yet to give a final shape to the fare chart.

“Though we have announced the broad fare structure, a fare chart has to be meticulously prepared detailing new fares between stoppages on all routes,” a senior Delhi government official said.

“The new fare structure is likely to come into effect from November 5.”

The Cabinet had approved a fare hike of 70 per cent for Delhi Transport Corporation and Blueline buses on October 26, and it was to have come into effect on November 1.

Officials said they might also modify the fare structure before sending it to the lieutenant governor for notification.

“There are concerns that a person travelling 4 km will now have to pay Rs 10 instead of Rs 3, which is 233 per cent more. We are trying to address this issue,” the official said.
