The unique plan will be implemented at Delhi Police's traffic training park at central Delhi’s Baba Kharak Singh Marg.

The park is going to be redesigned with the Capital’s important landmarks such as Qutab Minar, Lotus Temple, India Gate, New Delhi Railway Station, some Metro stations and bus stops, etc, in miniature form with original road links depicted around these areas.

The park will have traffic signals and traffic police personnel to man the intersections.

“This is a special arrangement we have planned, especially for tourists and students for education through recreation. Delhi College of Art of Delhi University has conceptualised the design, which will be developed within a duration of six months to a year,” said Sudhir Yadav, special commissioner of police (traffic).

The purpose is to create awareness and to provide road safety training to students and other road users. They will be taught how to negotiate jams, board and deboard buses, drive vehicles etc., said Yadav.

The park will be an ideal place where motorists can test their driving skills in real-time situations, understand traffic rules, test their skills on road dynamics and negotiate traffic, including pedestrians and cyclists. Besides, there will be several driving simulators and computer games on traffic-related issues for the visitors.

Instructors/guides will tell the visitors about their strengths and weaknesses on road usage. Besides, there will be arrangements for screening of several films on road safety.

“Our aim is to train people on road safety through fun. School children will be provided a lot of activities through our road safety club,” said a senior traffic police officer. “There will be awards and certificates for the best performers in the real time road safety tests.”

Delhi traffic police is also planning to redevelop another traffic training park at Punjabi Bagh with the help of Delhi Metro.
