Just as the meeting started at 2 pm, leader of Opposition Jai Kishen Sharma raised the issue related to appointment of certain officials. Led by Sharma, Congress members shouted slogans and disrupted the proceedings prompting three adjournments.
BJP members and MCD standing committee chairperson Yogender Chandolia passed a resolution criticising 'blackmailing' by the Congress and condemning what they called irresponsible behaviour of the Congress members.
Among other proposals, the MCD cleared a proposal to come up with 20 platforms in each ward with a facility of five units of 6X4 feet space at each one that would be offered to vendors in three shifts from 6 am to 10 pm.
"Preference would be given to area's vendors and the space would be reserved for selling daily needs items for the local community," said Subhash Arya, leader of the MCD House.
