The multimedia advertisement campaign termed ‘Let’s get ready’, will be formally launched by the civic agency this week to embarrass the public into giving up bad habits.

As part of the campaign, the civic body has created a number of interesting characters depicting various bad habits.
So, for those who urinate in the open “Mr Su SU Kumar” has been created, while “Mr Thu Thu Kumar” fits the description of those who spit on the roads.

“We want to educate the people and not penalise them. The people will be able to identify with the characters and hence they will think twice before doing the same thing in public, such as spitting, urinating and throwing garbage on the street.

“The campaign is linked to the Commonwealth Games. The idea is not to offend people but to deliver the message in a lighter vein. We are hoping that the campaign will be quite successful,” said Deep Mathur, director, press and information, MCD.

As part of the campaign, hoardings bearing messages that appeal to people to not become “Mr Thu Thu Kumar” (for someone who spits on the roads/pavements/walls), “Mr Su Su Kumar (for someone who urinates in the open) and “Mr Poly Uncle or Mrs Poly Aunty” or “Kuda Kumaar” (for those fond of littering in public places) will be put up across the city.

“This campaign should have been launched way back, but we are glad that something is being done finally. Offenders need to be made conscious of their bad habits. We are hosting an international event like Commonwealth Games and we need to present ourselves in the best way,” said Shruti Aggarwal, resident of Munirka Enclave.
