AI to partially shift domestic operations to T3 tomorrow

Air India has decided to partially shift some of its domestic flight operations to Terminal 3 of the IGI airport here from tomorrow in a bid to provide seamless connectivity to its passengers flying to international destinations from eight Indian cities.

Passengers arriving by Goa-Mumbai-Delhi (IC-866), Goa- Delhi (IC-868), Bhubaneshwar-Delhi (IC-878), Tirupati- Hyderabad-Delhi (IC-941), Guwahati-Bagdogra-Delhi (IC-879), Imphal-Guwahati-Delhi (IC-890), Kolkata-Delhi (IC-201), Bangalore-Delhi (IC-903), Mumbai-Delhi (IC-168), Kozhikode- Coimbatore-Mumbai-Delhi (IC-658) and Chennai-Delhi (IC-539) flights would disembark at T3.

The aircraft operating on these sectors will be used for onward international operations, so passengers arriving by these flights will disembark at T3 and then the aircraft will take-off for their onward journey.

"This arrangement has been necessitated due to the postponement of shifting of domestic operations, which was to take place from October 30 but now may begin from November 14, as the aircraft operating on these sectors are earmarked for onward international operations," an Air India spokesperson said.

With Air India planning to operate 15 daily direct flights via Delhi to international destinations this winter schedule beginning tomorrow, international flyers from Amritsar, Kolkata, Cochin, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and Ahmedabad would be able to take their flights after checking-in from their respective cities.

"With this arrangement, the national carrier would be able to to provide direct connection to international destinations from eight Indian cities via Delhi and convenient connections from 38 other cities," he said.

Airport operator, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), will make necessary arrangements for transportation of passengers between T3 and old domestic terminal T1.
