Alert ahead of R-Day

The Centre has sounded an alert ahead of the Republic Day parade across the country including Delhi and asked state governments to remain at the highest level of alertness during this “extremely vulnerable” period, reports Aloke Tikku.

The Centre has sounded an alert ahead of the Republic Day parade across the country including Delhi and asked state governments to remain at the highest level of alertness during this “extremely vulnerable” period in view of specific reports that terrorists were planning an attack.

Keeping the intelligence inputs in mind, the home ministry had yesterday issued a formal advisory to the state governments to step up security, the second this week. “A few days back, the home ministry had issued a detailed advisory detailing the intelligence inputs and stipulated the nature of steps that could be taken,” a home ministry official said.

But as security agencies get down to the task of tracking suspected terrorist groups, the home ministry urged the public to join the effort to ensure peace by staying alert.
