Arms racket busted, 1 held

The Delhi Police, on Thursday, claimed to have smashed a gang involved in selling illegal arms to criminals with the arrest of a 45-year-old man, identified as Mohammad Arif, on August 7.

The Delhi Police, on Thursday, claimed to have smashed a gang involved in selling illegal arms to criminals with the arrest of a 45-year-old man, identified as Mohammad Arif, on August 7.

“He was part of a racket operating from Mainpuri and two sophisticated pistols of .32 bore, a sophisticated revolver .32 bore and seven countrymade pistols .315 bore and 45 cartridges were recovered from him,” said a senior police officer.

Police said those operating the racket used to charge Rs 30-35,000 for a .32 pistol and revolvers were priced at R8-10,000 while .315 bore country made pistol was sold for R2,000. The bullets used to cost Rs 50-200.
