The award is given by the government of India to encourage more competition in the tourism industry. The awards were presented by President of India Pratibha Devi Patil.
The Delhi heritage walk organised by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation Ltd and INTACH won the award for best heritage walk.
The New Delhi railway station emerged as the most tourist-friendly station in India. The turnaround of the station happened just before the Commonwealth Games.
Rewari’s heritage steam loco shed was awarded the most innovative and unique tourism project in India. India’s oldest steam loco shed was revived in 2010 to promote steam railway tourism in India.
