Bangalore: 6 get life sentence for raping law student

Six persons have been sentenced to life in connection with the gang-rape of a 21-year-old student of National Law School of India University on October 19, 2012.

Six persons on Friday were sentenced to life in connection with the gang-rape of a 21-year-old student of National Law School of India University on October 19, 2012.

Police had arrested the six within a week of the crime from suburban Ramanagara and Mattaradoddigudda areas.

The six persons were cutting wood illegally for sale and came to the university campus in search of sandalwood when they attacked the girl.

The student was gang-raped after the six accused waylaid her car in which she was travelling with her friend.

The six accused, who had entered the university campus for illegal tree felling, had dragged the girl to a nearby forest area and sexually assaulted her.
