Bison dies in Delhi zoo

An adult male bison died of snake bite at the National Zoological Park on Saturday. Nivedita Khandekar reports.

An adult male bison died of snake bite at the National Zoological Park on Saturday.

The death became known when the keeper went for cleaning around 11.30am to the enclosure at the park, popularly known as the Delhi zoo. The bison’s body was discovered in the inner covered portion of the large enclosure of the park.

"The post-mortem revealed that there were snake bite marks at 3-4 spots on the animal’s face," said AK Agnihotri, National Zoological Park director.
