The Delhi BJP on Saturday slammed the Congress over a proposal to increase power tariff in the city.

Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said the fall in domestic coal production had resulted in power generation companies seeking import of coal and this additional cost was being passed on to the consumers.
Goel’s statement came in reaction to a proposal cleared by the Centre, which would allow the power generators to pass on the hike in costs on to the consumers by raising the tariff by at least 10-15%. Goel said, “The Congress government in Delhi and its leaders at the Centre are hand in glove when it comes to raising power tariff. If that is not the case, why didn’t the Delhi government oppose this move by the Union finance ministry? After all the finance minister is a senior member of the Congress party.”
“The Congress has been hand in glove with the power distribution companies,” said the BJP state president.
