Workers of BJP’s youth wing, led by the party’s Delhi unit president Vijay Goel, on Sunday courted arrest while protesting in front of Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s residence to demand the release of Delhi’s share of water. Delhi’s share, they claimed, was allegedly being held back by the state.

Goel and scores of activists of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), including Delhi BJYM chief Gauarav Khari, were arrested, taken to the Parliament Street police station and later released.

Earlier, addressing the protesters, Goel said, “The overall water management system has collapsed in Delhi. Not only Delhi has not got its due share from Haryana, the much-delayed Munak Canal whose cost overruns are phenomenal, doesn’t have a single drop of water despite the tall claims made by the chief minister in the last one year.”
