BJP workers staged protests in Budh Vihar, Najafgarh and Mehrauli, seeking Chauhan’s removal from Delhi Cabinet.
“The chief minister must remove Chauhan. The government must show respect to orders of constitutional institutions like Lokayukta,” city BJP chief Vijender Gupta said addressing a gathering in Budh Vihar.
Delhi Lokayukta justice Manmohan Sarin had last month recommended sacking Chauhan from the Cabinet for trying to protect a leading resort in a tax evasion case, holding him guilty of “misconduct” of “grave nature”.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader VK Malhotra strongly condemned the killing of a young girl student in Dhaula Kuan in broad daylight on Tuesday morning.
Radhika Tanwar, a second year degree student, was shot dead by an unidentified person near Ram Lal Anand College in Dhaula Kuan’s Shanti Niketan area at around 10.20 am.
