Businessman’s family held hostage, robbed

Five armed robbers barged into a house, held four women and a child hostage and robbed them on Wednesday. The robbers then fled in the family's luxury car. This is the incident of robbery in over a month.

The incident took place at businessman Hira Lal Gupta's residence at Sector 19 in Faridabad. Gupta and his son Parvinder were in Gurgaon at the time of the incident.

Hira Lal's wife Kusum, his mother in law Kailashwati and domestic help Neelu were at home when five armed youth barged in. Hira Lal's daughter in law Rashmi had gone to pick up her son from school.

Rashmi said when she returned, she saw a stranger in the gallery. When she questioned him, she was dragged inside. The robbers then held Rashmi's son Aditya and the four women hostage.

The robbers looted Rs 1 lakh cash, jewellery and other valuable items worth Rs 25 lakh. They fled in the family’s Ford Ikon car. Rashmi called up Parvinder who informed the police.

Station House Officer of Old Faridabad police station, Ram Chander, rushed to the spot. Police Commissioner PK Agarwal also visited the house.

"We have registered case of dacoity and a massive hunt has been launched to nab the criminals," ACP Sarai Kwaja Darshan Lal Malik said.
