The alleged torture - which involved lying naked on the floor for several hours, brutal thrashing by police personnel in addition to misbehaviour -- unfolded at west Delhi's Kirti Nagar police station on January 14, the businessman claimed. V Renganathan, additional commissioner of police (west) said an enquiry had been ordered.

Suffering from high blood pressure, the victim had to be hospitalised with personnel from the local police station - visiting him to record his statement. "A high-level enquiry has been launched to ascertain the facts and investigations are underway," Renganathan said.
