Carjackers had FM channel ambitions

Delhi Police have arrested five members of a gang of highway car jackers who used to steal cars to open an FM channel in Bulandshahar. A Bulandshahar doctor used to help them sell off the stolen cars.

Delhi Police have arrested five members of a gang of highway car jackers who used to steal cars to open an FM channel in Bulandshahar. A Bulandshahar doctor used to help them sell off the stolen cars.

"All the five robbers are aged between 20 and 25 years and have a criminal background. We have also recovered four stolen vehicles. With their arrests, a case of highway murder, four cases of highway car jacking, two cases of robbery and two cases of autolifting have been solved," said Virender Singh Chahal, Joint Commissioner of Police, Southeast district.

The accused were arrested during routine checks. They have been identified as Devi Sharan, Manish, Harish, Rishi and Narender.

The gang used to travel on stolen vehicles on highways and identify soft targets, in which the occupant was either alone or with a woman. They would then overtake the vehicle and park in front of it. The gang then robbed the occupants at gunpoint and take away the car. They used to dispose off the robbed vehicles at a minimal price range of Rs35,000 to Rs40,000.
