The cartridges of .22 bore were recovered from a bomb proof dustbin outside the airport’s Terminal 1D.

Police haven’t been able to identify the person who had dumped the cartridges and have asked for CCTV footage.

“An employee who was cleaning the dustbin found the 185 live cartridges. Kamlesh, the employee, was carrying out routine cleaning work outside departure gate No. 5 when he noticed the cartridges wrapped in old clothes,” a police officer, who didn’t want to be named, said. Kamlesh first informed CISF personnel who then informed the police.

“We suspect that someone had dumped it to avoid detection during screening at airport. In the past too, we had arrested flyers carrying live cartridges. The passenger must dumped it before entering the terminal. We are tracing his movement through CCTV footage,” the officer added. Further investigations are on.
